Photographs of the Thomas J. Peters tomato farm, Peters (South Dade, Fla.): 1. "This building was lived in by members of the [Thomas J.] Peters family before 1900, when they were starting the tomato deal." House is made of barrel staves. ca. 1897. HMSF no. 1979-28-2. -- 2. Peters tomato packing house, crew, and small steam locomotive used to haul tomatoes to Cutler. 1902? HMSF no. 1979-28-6. -- 3. "The wooden track railroad was used first about the turn of the century. The cars were pulled with mules from Peters to Cutler, a distance of some 4 miles. They could move about 2 cars per day, or no more than 1,000 crates of tomatoes. 1902?
