Scope and Content:
There are 15 photos filed under this number. They were taken on April 23, 1982, when Key West succeeded from the United States and became the Conch Republic in response to a US Border Patrol roadblock south of Florida City causing Keys residents to have to prove their citizenship to enter the mainland of Florida. Seven of the photos show the crowd gathering for ceremony, the rest show important figures speaking at the ceremony. The photos were taken in front of the Chamber of Commerce Building at Mallory Square. From the Ida Woodward Barron Collection.
