|a The purpose of the present study was to determine the occurrence, distribution, and status of the eastern indigo snake in three National Park Service areas in southern Florida: Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and Biscayne National Park. We did this primarily by analyzing records of sightings in these areas. We also determined the distribution of the indigo snake in the Florida Keys. We include biological information on habitat use, seasonal variation in
sightings, food habits, size, parasites, and sex ratio for snakes observed and examined in and adjacent to Everglades National Park. |
