- The Zoo Miami Collection is a collection of textual and visual materials documenting the evolution of Florida’s largest zoo. FIU’s Government Resources and Information Department, in partnership with Zoo Miami, curated materials, photographs, and created oral histories of early zoo pioneers. This collection offers a historical retrospective of the zoo, beginning with their days as the Crandon Zoological Park in Key Biscayne, to their monumental relocation to Southern Miami and subsequent rebranding as Miami MetroZoo, to their current progressive incarnation as Zoo Miami. Prominent topics found in this collection include an intimate look of people instrumental in the development of the zoo, as well as their relationship with the animals inhabiting it.
