Abstract:
Satin fabric with silver stitching and beading, made by Nayla Llanes. Silver sequins and beads are arranged in a star shape in the center of the crown. The cap is decorated for the Orisha deity Yemojá, and reflects her ritual colors of blue and opal or crystal. Commissioned and purchased for Historical Museum of Southern Florida (HistoryMiami Museum) exhibit, "At the Crossroads: Afro-Cuban Orisha Arts in Miami," February 23- August 8, 2001. ( en )
