- Automotive magnate and developer Carl Fisher led in the creation of two cities (Miami Beach, Florida, and Montauk, Long Island, New York), and played a large role in the automotive industry. His transportation projects included the Indianapolis Speedway, Lincoln Highway, and Dixie Highway. Fisher’s papers contain his correspondence, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, and photographs. The collection consists mainly of correspondence, both business and personal. It includes clippings, photographs, legal documents, financial reports and statements, memoranda, telegrams, pamphlets and brochures, blueprints, patents, and miscellaneous items. Please note that some terms and topics found are outdated, biased, and offensive. These primary sources contain examples of the harmful realities of early-twentieth century Miami, such as racism, misogyny and antisemitism. Carl Graham Fisher Papers
- A collection of photographic prints from HistoryMiami by commercial photographer Claude Matlack, who worked in Miami and Miami Beach between 1918 and 1942. - This collection from HistoryMiami features a significant selection of photographs that were taken by the Miami News from 1896 to 1988. It captures pivotal events, notable places, and distinguished individuals in Dade and Monroe Counties and insights into Broward County, Cuba, the Bahamas, and the West Indies. The collection was donated by Cox Enterprises to the Historical Museum of Southern Florida after 1989. - This digital collection from the HistoryMiami Museum features objects from a 2001 exhibition highlighting Afro-Cuban Orisha Arts in Miami. The collection comprises photographs of items connected to the Afro-Cuban Orisha religion, also known as Regla de Ocha, Yoruba religion, or Santería. The items include beadwork, garments, cloth panels, metalwork, woodcarvings, altars, musical instruments, and paintings.
