Leopard skin fabric piece with red and white beaded strands with cowries. Commissioned and purchased for Historical Museum of Southern Florida (HistoryMiami Museum) exhibit, "At the Crossroads: Afro-Cuban Orisha Arts in Miami," February 23- August 8, 2001. Such a crown would be used in Orisha religious ceremonies/altars associated with the deity 'Dadà'. This deity's domain is unborn children, and its ritual colors are red and white. |
