Pink and gold colored crown with beadwork, sequins, and cowrie shells made by Eusebio Escobar. Commissioned and purchased for Historical Museum of Southern Florida (HistoryMiami Museum) exhibit, "At the Crossroads: Afro-Cuban Orisha Arts in Miami," February 23- August 8, 2001. Such a crown would be used in Orisha ceremonies involving the deity Oshún. This deity's domain is the river, and its ritual colors are amber, yellow and coral. Oshún is syncretized in Cuban Catholicism with Our Lady of Charity. ( en )
