Commissioned and purchased especially for Historical Museum of Southern Florida (HistoryMiami Museum) exhibit, "At the Crossroads: Afro-Cuban Orisha Arts in Miami," February 23- August 8, 2001.  The horsetail is decorated in the ritual color of the Orisha deity Obatalá: white. The "iruke", or horsetail, is Obatalá's ritual instrument.  Beads are used to decorate the iruke as a manifestation of the beauty and magnificence of the orisha.
