Abstract:
Shows five masked young men dressed in black pants, white short sleeved shirts and bow ties. A sixth member wears a black shirt. They all wear dress shoes and straw hats, and are armed with nightsticks. Photo date stamped: February 1988.The Tonton Macoutes was a Haitian paramilitary force created in 1959 by dictator Franτois 'Papa Doc' Duvalier. The Tontons Macoutes remained active until the late 1980s. ( en )
