Abstract:
In 1921-1922 the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad was extended from Moore Haven to Sand Point, on Lake Okeechobee. For the occasion, the tiny Sand Point community was named Clewiston, after A. C. Clewis, who had financed the railway construction. ( en )
