Abstract:
Shows small, hip-roofed house, coconut palms, dirt road and coastal prairie surrounding house. In 1884 "James A. Waddell of Key West acquired 1,120 acres, embracing much of the beach front on the Capes. ... Thereafter the coconut tree forest growing down to the water front is the outstanding landmark ... In 1889 the Coast and Geodetic Survey Map first shows the change of name from Palm Point to Middle Cape. ... The 1935 hurricane swept away the trees, the buildings and two persons...." -- They Lived in the Park, by Charlton W. Tebeau, p. 96-97. ( en )
