Notes

Abstract:
View of building exterior, as seen from Biscayne Bay. James Allison built the hospital on Allison Island at the mouth of Indian Creek in 1926. Allison created a state-of-the-art facility to cater to the wealthy but the economic bust of 1926 sunk his vision. In 1927, the nursing nuns of the Sisters of St. Francis of Allegheny, New York took over the hospital and renamed it St. Francis Hospital. ( en )
