Abstract:
Pages 78-81 of "Black Miami in the Twentieth Century" by Marvin Dunn gives an account of Dorsey's activities in Miami. D. A. Dorsey, believed to be Miami's first black millionaire, amassed a fortune in real estate and other business ventures during the land boom of the 1920s. His philanthrophic activities included the donation of land for schools for African American children. ( en )
