Abstract:
Arthur and Polly Mays were responsible for bringing education to the black children in the South Dade area as early as 1914. They donated land, provided transportation, collected books and grew produce for lunches. They were active in educational affairs for over 25 years and Mays High School is named in their honor. -- Jean Taylor. ( en )
