The INEE minimum standards call for creating safe learning environments by ensuring that existing schools are retrofitted to address the disaster risks relevant to their location, and that new schools are built in safe locations according to construction guidelines that take these risks into account. It advocates for the development of school disaster management and education continuity planning. It supports the mainstreaming of DRR and disaster preparedness into teacher training and curricula. And, lastly, it promotes building a culture of safety within the education sector more broadly. ( English )
