Abstract:
"Flamingo Hotel was opened by Carl Fisher on New Years Day 1921 at a cost of $2 million. It was Miami Beach's first grand hotel and an instant hit wit hthe public. In this postcard, large multi-colored umbrellas and palm trees offered shade as guests socialized and danced in the tea garden at the Flamingo Hotel. The recreation grounds of the hotel would later become the site of a central city park called Flamingo Park"--From "Miami Beach in Vintage Postcards", by Patricia Kennedy, 2001.
