General Note:: Located in the heard of the old Spanish section, near the City Gates and the Chamber of Commerce Information Center. This historic building, long known as the Old Spanish Inn, is the first in St. Augustine to be rehabilitated under the direction of Spanish antiquarians. It is built of coquina stone and is one of the oldest surviving structures in America's oldest city. In preserving it for posterity the antiquarians have furnished it as an inn in Spain might have been in the early 1700's. All of its quaint period furnishings were brought from Spain, many of the most interesting pieces have been made especially for for it after drawings in Spanish archives. It is open to visitors as an exhibition building (no meals or lodging)with personally conducted tours, at a nominal charge, weekdays from 9 to 5:30; Sundays from 1 to 5:30.; 'Visited by persons from all over America because it is acclaimed a masterpiece of restoration.' - Jacksonville Times-Union.
