[Front]: STATE OF FLORIDA; DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION; FLORIDA NEWS BUREAU; TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA; These eight escudo gold coins were part of the $2 million Spanish treasure salvaged off Florida's east coast. Coin on right shows the face, bearing the crest of King Philip V, and on left is the reverse side showing a Jerusalem cross. Noe on the face, 1702 is the date, OXM indicates it was produced at the Mexico City mint, L identifies the assayer and VIII shos it is an eight escudo. The inscription "PHILIPPVS V DEI G HISPANIARVM ET INDIARVM REX" translates to "Phillip V, by the Grace of God, 1702 King of Spain and the Indies."
