Notes
Scope and Content:
In this interview, Glendon Hall relates how he solved the speeding issue in his neighborhood and how he was the first black HOA president. Mayor Gelber wanted to allow the Black people on the beach to have representation and input on the policies. Hall was active in the citizen patrol program that assisted the Miami Beach police, but didn't allow members who had a biased agenda. Born in England, he didn't experience racism until he moved to the United States. He talks about times he has been racially profiled and why he tries to ensure that the diverse tourists and residents don't experience the same. ( English )
Biographical:
Filmed in the Miami Beach Art Deco Museum on July 1, 2021 Glendon Hall serves as the Chair of the City of Miami Beach's Black Advisory Committee. He moved to Miami Beach in 2001. He is the first Black President of the Homeowners Association of Pine Tree Drive. He is committed to organizing an inclusive range of multicultural activities on Miami Beach to attract families of color, which he feels will enhance even further Miami Beach's image as a diverse city welcoming tourists and residents regardless of ethnic background, religion, and gender expression. He talks about the importance of acknowledging Miami Beach's past history as foundational and the formation of the Black Advisory Committe's plans for the future.
