August 23, 1951 Copy of typewritten letter from E. M. Hancock, President, Pioneers of Miami Beach, City Hall, to Mr. W. E. Robertson, 861 Avon Street, Akron, Ohio, regarding request for picture of the James Whitcomb Riley tree. This tree was planted by Mr. Riley himself in 1912. Copy of typewritten poem written on the occasion of the planting of a tree in the middle of Lincoln Road, near the corner of Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, 1912. The poem reads: The PLANTING OF A TREE / We plant this tree beside the sea / In trust that in the years to be / It yet may wave, thru' shine and showers / For other eyes as glad as ours.
