Documents include: 1955 typewritten document titled “Miami Beach Data, Possible Broadcast Material ” regarding Miami Beach’s 40th Anniversary, land value, vacation population, World War training and WWII, etc. Unknown author. August 16, 1961 correspondence to and from Mayor Kenneth Oka, from W. K. De Young, regarding historical data request. 1940’s handwritten document titled “Things We Never Knew About Miami Beach Before” and “Things I Never Knew About Miami Beach,” unknown author. 1950’s typewritten document titled “Data About Miami Beach” regarding changes, census, tourism, and the Shah and Queen of Iran visit, unknown author. 1950 typewritten drafts of the History of Miami Beach from the Miami Beach News Bureau by S.W. Matthews. 1950’s typewritten drafts of the History of Miami Beach probably drafted by Hank Meyer. 1960 typewritten document titled “Miami Beach Replate” regarding hotels, the first resident in Miami Beach, etc. Second document is regarding the growth of aviation, Miami Beach’s early visitors, the beginning of the venture, and the first residence on Miami Beach, belonging to Capt. Richard Carney, who later moved it to Coconut Grove, unknown author. January 1, 1926 handwritten text by J. N. Lummus, regarding weather, tourism, gambling, publicity, ethnicity, developing, taxes, war, etc. November 1, 1948 Two pages of typewritten drafts of the History of Miami Beach from the Miami Beach News Bureau from Tom Smith, Director, special to New York Star. November 21, 1949 pages of typewritten document, signed by J. N. Lummus, titled “The Early History of Miami Beach.” November 21, 1949 typewritten document titled “The First Causeway in Florida” signed by J.N. Lummus and letter from Hugh Peters, Chairman of the Board of Dade County Commissioners, in reply to Lummus letter of September 9th, requesting a glass covered resolution be placed on the property on Miami Beach which was deeded to Dade County on October 18, 1916 by the Lummus brothers.
