Abstract:
Netherlands Freedom Medal. Circular bronze medal with obverse depicting Batavia in 16th century Republican hat wielding a sword and olive branch. The reverse depicts the royal Dutch crown, a lion mauling a swastika, the date 5 May 1945, and the royal motto "Je maintiendrai" [I shall maintain]. Struck by Royal Mint, Utrecht. Caduceus mintmark.
