Abstract:
Rotterdam Maas River Tunnel Medal. A circular zinc medal with an image on the obverse of a seated Batavia surrounded by her personifications of industry (?) such as: labor (standing man left with a hammer in his hand), transportation (standing woman right with winged wheel and branch with flower in her hands), and commerce (seated woman right with staff of Mercury in one hand and ship for seatrade at her feet), coat of arms of Rotterdam (?) and motto Perseverance, Courage, Trust. The reverse side depicts Nieuwe Maas ("New Meuse") a river with a port and new tunnel. Struck by Koninklijke Begeer (Utrecht) voor Vereniging voor Penningkunst, Society for Medal Art.
