During the meeting, the Trust listens to a report from Lee Robinson, the Trust's finance director, regarding the Trust's financial position as of March 31, 2005. Robinson also discusses the Trust's revenues and expenditures as of March 31, 2005 and the budget status of the capital improvement projects, the sanitary sewer projects, the renovations and repairs projects, and money expended on the museum planning. Next, the Trust discusses the updated text for the state of Florida historical marker that will be placed at the park. Then, the Trust discusses the transfer of the Virginia Key Beach Park land from the city of Miami to the Trust. Next, the Trust listens to the various committee reports that discuss policies regarding administrative leave, adding staff positions for the 2006 fiscal year, the possibility of adding three lifeguard positions, and that the Trust should rent a temporary structure to house the administrative personnel and staff when they move their operations to the park. The Trust also discusses the current status of the capital campaign project and a review of the Sunset Toast event at the beach. The Trust notes that close to three hundred people attended the event, that Susan Taylor from Essence magazine interacted with the guests at the park, and that the Trust offered their guests a tour of the park. Lastly, the Trust also discusses the environmental summit held at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, making sure the groins are safe when the park opens for the public, making sure that the park's operations are environmentally sensitive, and they listen to updates regarding the parking lot and pump projects and the shoreline restoration project. |
