Notes

General Note:
Present at the meeting from the Trust are: Enid Pinkney, Bernice Sawyer, Gene Tinnie, Eugenia Thomas, Gustavo Godoy, and Miguel Germain. During this meeting, the Trust discusses a potential design for the museum, a resolution accepting a grant allocation in the amount of $5,000 from Miami Dade County Cultural Affairs, and committee reports and their updated schedules. The Administrative and Personnel committee notes that their objectives for the upcoming year are to address personnel needs and training, to complete the Trust's accounting and procedures manual, to produce recommendations for office move by January 18, 2005, and changing the title of "finance coordinator" to "finance director." Next, the Auditing and Budgeting Committee presents its report that primarily deals with an internal audit. Then, the Development Committee presents its report, which notes that its November 10th event, an annual fund campaign kick-off at Virginia Key Beach Park, will be a rally to gain support for the Trust's annual fund campaign. Then the Historic Preservation committee notes that Terragenises, the film company behind the oral history documentary, filmed the requested oral histories despite a difference of schedules between the company and the Trust. The committee also notes that they would like to have a "big event" in the community to debut the documentary. During the presentation, Guy Forchion talks about continuing the oral history project for the "Cable Tap" program. David Shorter notes that interested parties who want to provide their stories about Virginia Key Beach can reach out to the Trust through their webpage. Enid Pinkney raises concerns about some of the recollections of Virginia Key Beach not being accurate and wants the Trust to review the footage to check for accuracy before it's put into the documentary. The Marketing Committee reports on the General Obligation Bond campaign, their publicity efforts to highlight the bond's presence on the ballot, and making sure that the information about the general obligation bond is getting to Miami's voters. The committee also provides dates and locations when they will hold meetings seeking the public's input about the planned museum and cultural center that will be built at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. Next, the Trust hears presentations from the Planning and Construction committee. The committee discusses the "closeout" of the innovations and repairs projects at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, the presence of the Army Corps of Engineers at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, the removal of the old beach groins and the instillation of the new ones, and the removal of the exotic plant species. The meeting ends with a report from David Shorter, the Executive Director for the Trust.
