Notes

General Note:
One of Jackson's important remarks regards the complications of reaching the beach via ferry. She also notes that Virginia Key Beach is an inlet, not a beach. Although African Americans were grateful to be in the water during segregated times, VKB was not as nice as the other beaches. Jackson's priority, she explains, is for people to appreciate the process (or struggle).
