|a This clip opens in the Virginia Key Beach carousel with a steel pan band playing to a crowd. Then the video shifts to Gene Tinnie talking to a small group of people on the beach. First, Tinnie discusses the local water and channel conditions of Virginia Key Beach noting the presence of a severe drop off not far from the beach. Tinnie then discusses the slave ship the Henrietta Marie, Higgs Beach in Key West, and the Guerrero. Lastly, someone asks Tinnie about interesting facts about Virginia Key Beach. Tinnie reveals that the trust is interested in learning more about a 1918 survey map of Virginia Key. The 1918 map contains a small dot on Virginia Key’s shore labelled "negro dancing pavilion” and the Trust would like to learn more. |
