Notes
General Note:
This interview with Aretha Boone is part of a series of interviews that took place during the Sunset Toast celebration at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. Boone talks about her first memories of the beach and the fact that she could meet people from all of Miami's segregated neighborhoods at Virginia Key Beach. Boone said that there were no incidences of violence at Virginia Key Beach and that she is quite happy that the beach will be opening back up to the public. Boone revealed that she stopped coming to the beach because once the beach became integrated she, and others, decided to explore other options. Boone approves of the restoration project and that Virginia Key Beach is an important part of Miami's history
