Abstract:
A flyer advertising the Florida State's Civil Rights Conference's Jazz Festival held at Virginia Key Beach Park. The festival also included a tree planting ceremony and a birthday celebration of Athalie Range, who was the founding chair of the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust and was a civil rights activist and politician. She was the first African-American to serve on Miami's City Commission and the first woman, and African-American since Reconstruction, to head a Florida state agency. ( en )
