Abstract:
An invitation to a luncheon on the cruise ship "Grandeur of the Seas," where the second annual "Showcase of Performing Artists for the New Millennium" was taking place. The luncheon was sponsored by the M. Athalie Range Cultural Arts Foundation. Athalie Range, the founding chair of the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust, was a civil rights activist and politician. She was the first African-American to serve on Miami's City Commission and the first woman, and African-American since Reconstruction, to head a Florida state agency. ( en )
