Several people socialize at an event at Virginia Key Beach Park. In the center is Athalie M. Range, the founding Chair of the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust. Mrs. Range was also a civil rights activist and politician. She was the first African-American to serve on Miami's City Commission and the first woman, and African-American since Reconstruction, to head a Florida state agency. ( en )
