Abstract:
Larry Little poses with the recipient of the Service Award and other guests at the 2008 Larry Little Legends Golf Classic Pairings Reception pose for the camera. The annual tournament benefits Virginia Key Beach Trust. From left to right: Garth C. Reeves, Maud Newbold, Larry Little, and Eugenia B. Thomas. Larry Little played right guard on the history-making 1972 Miami Dolphins, racking up many individual accollades and awards. He is a 2-time Super Bowl champion and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. He is also dedicated to supporting the Virginia Key Beach Trust to ensure the preservation and upkeep of the historic park that he himself visited as a child during segregation. Garth C. Reeves, the publisher emeritus of the Miami Times, the oldest and largest black-owned newspaper in the southeastern United States. Reeves worked at the Times for over five decades as a columnist, editor, and publisher, and was the first African-American to serve on several local boards. Eugenia B. Thomas, the former Vice-Chair of the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust, who was also the first black president of Florida's Parent Teach Association and a lifelong advocate for children. ( en )
