Abstract:
The University hired a clipping service that monitored the wire services and newspapers. Whenever Florida International University was mentioned the article was clipped; weekly packages were sent to the University’s Administration and Publications Office. If an article was picked up by the wire services and reprinted in another newspaper regardless of location a clipping was sent. These clippings were then forwarded to the library where an alphabetical subject index was created. These were input using a Word Processor and an index was printed. This list is now scanned and will serve as table of contents to the early history of FIU. One can search for an academic unit, a faculty member or a sporting event. Researches may use this as an index to the Miami Herald. It covers the period from the Founding of FIU to 1989
