Abstract:
Stark Sentinels of Mexico's Storied Past. Monte Alban ruins, near Oaxaca in southern Mexico, etch lines of once-flourishing civilization. During different periods, the region was peopled by the Olmecs, Zapotecs and Mixtecs. Evidences of these distinct groups are seen in the mountain-top site above Oaxaca, where some of the most extensive archaeological digging in the New World have been carried on. The site dates back to pre-Christian times. Latin American Corr of TCSM ( en )
