Abstract:: Wetlands in the Nile Basin are facing several threats including reduction of wetland water supply, quality and quantity which reduces the productivity of fisheries, complete conversion of wetlands and damaging changes in their catchments, limiting access to wetland natural fisheries through increasing number of fishers and general fishing pressures and conflicts. Therefore there is a need to better understand, conserve and manage wetlands to retain their importance and their economic values.
