General Note:
Topographical chart of the Dry Tortugas surrounding Fort Jefferson with soundings indicating the ocean's depth, navigable channels, lighthouses and coordinates, buoys, rocks, reefs, islands, and tide measurements. Scale of 40,000 feet to 1 inch. The inset close up of Fort Jefferson and its immediate surroundings is at a scale of 10,000 feet to 1 inch. Published in July 1896 by W. W. Duffield, Superintendent, and engraved by William Smith, for the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey.
