Notes

Scope and Content:
Narration: In the early 1920s, George Merrick set aside land in perpetuity for Boy Scout Troop Seven, where he had a log cabin with a coral rock chimney built for them on the western portion of the Granada Golf Course. Unfortunately, the original structure was burned to the ground in 1971, leaving only the fireplace and chimney. Troop Seven later built a brick patio on the side of the original cabin. Names of Boy Scout leaders and community friends were engraved on the bricks to commemorate the site. Troop Seven continues to meet every Wednesday at a more modern building that was built adjacent to the site of the original Scout cabin. The entrance to the cabin can be found at the intersection of Cordova Street and South Greenway Drive.
