Notes

Scope and Content:
Jack Johnson has been a South Beach resident since 1999. He has a long association with the Miami Design Preservation League as a tour guide and current Chair of the MDPL Board. He describes the recent MDPL campaigns to save the Deauville Hotel, where the Beatles stayed and performed, and a set of mosaic murals depicting scenes from U.S. history. Johnson discusses the ongoing challenges to historic preservation due to the high price of land and the changes tastes of younger residents of the Beach. ( en )
