Notes

Scope and Content:
Beth Dunlop is a writer and author of several books on historic home design. She was the architecture critic for The Miami Herald at a fortuitous time for the Art Deco preservation movement in Miami Beach. Her writings were influential in gaining support for efforts to save the Art Deco district at a time when “Deco” was not universally admired. Dunlop lived on Miami Beach for 38 years and was very involved in historic preservation, serving on the Miami Beach Preservation Board. She maintains that the City of Miami Beach is at a crossroads in its history and must decide whether to project the image of an all night party town or a cultural mecca of concerts, live theater and Art Basel.
