Abstract:
Shows boat and crew alongside the whale shark. Thompson caught a "big fish" in 1912, while fishing off the Florida Keys. It was identified as a whale shark by the Smithsonian. Thompson mounted and exhibited the shark by rail and boat around the country. In 1922 it was destroyed when the exhibit caught fire. ( en )
