Abstract:
Gar Wood's boat, ready to race train to New York City. Immediately to the north of 39th Street was the estate of the boat racer Gar Wood, on which he had built ... a poured concrete, pagoda-style dock for the 'Gar Junior.' The Gar Junior, a 44-foot yacht with a speed of 44 miles per hour, beat the fastest train time in a race to New York. -- South Florida History, v 36, no. 2 (2008), p. 18-19. ( en )
