Notes

General Note:
Lighted Christmas tree at night, the first year of the National Enquirer's annual tradition. The owner of the National Enquirer, Generoso Pope, first installed a giant Christmas tree in front of the newspaper's building in 1972. The event grew over the years, featured exhibits and displays, and ultimately drew a million viewers. The tree in 1979 was 117 feet tall and listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. After his death in 1988, the tradition was ended.
