General Note:
"Betsy Ross of Boynton Beach. Mrs. Alice Shepard, 89, has lived in Boynton since 1910 and as she contemplates her work on the new City flag with its leaping sailfish, she loving reflects on her long life here with her four children. Celebrating with their mother on this Mother's Day are Mrs. Ruth Martin of Boynton; Mrs. Vivian Caudill of Lake Worth; Mrs. Helen Merrill of Colorado Springs, Colo. and her son Roger in Lake Worth. The modern Betsy Ross has 10 grandchildren in the area." Caption from the Boynton Beach Star, 9 May 1963. Alice Josephine Losee (1874-1970) came to Boynton Beach in 1911 and later married W.S. Shepard.
