General Note:
Ezell Hester (1931-1989) worked 31 years as an educator, including 13 years teaching mathematics at Congress Middle School. Hester was the first African-American to run for City Council (1966) Boynton Beach's second Black city commissioner, appointed in 1985, and also served on several town boards, as vice mayor, as acting mayor in 1988. Before his involvement with City politics, he was active in the Boynton Negro Civic League.
