Notes

General Note:
The sausage tree (Kigelia africana) at Rainbow Gardens. Historical note: Horticulturist C.O. Miller established the a 12 acre nursery in 1919 to supply Addison Mizner's landscaping needs for the Boca Raton Resort. Miller expanded the property with stone art and gazebos. It became the attraction Rainbow Tropical Gardens. Mizner designed a gift shop and cafe in the early 1920s. The building was a popular nightclub in the 1930s. The garden was destroyed in the 1947 hurricane. The building later was the Whistle Stop Restaurant and in 1975, the abandoned building became the restaurant Benvenuto.
