General Note:
Bertha Daugharty Williams Chadwell. Historical note: Bertha Daugharty Williams Chadwell (1886-1982) came to Boynton with her husband J.J. Williams (1876-1947) in 1907 to grow tomatoes. After Williams' death, Bertha married L.S. Chadwell (1887-1965), who served as Boynton's mayor (1958-1959). Bertha Chadwell operated a taxi service and was an early community leader, serving as charter member and president of the Boynton Woman's Club (1915-1920), assisting with development of the Bethesda Memorial Hospital, chairman of the county Democratic Party, and charter member of several clubs.
