Notes

Scope and Content:
Jonathan Plutzik is the owner and operator of the Betsy Hotel, formerly the Betsy Ross Hotel, located at the north end of Ocean Drive. Plutnik talks about the history of the hotel and his own family's history, explaining how the arts has influenced his concept of hospitality. In renovating the building, Plutzik talks about making the experience of staying at The Betsy as much about the arts and culture as it is about sun and surf. He explains how the arts have been incorporated in the design of the hotel and the activities that take place there, with live music performances every night in the bar and poetry left next to the mints on the pillows at night. The interview takes place in The Library, open to guests 24 hours. Plutzik says Ocean Drive is a high energy place where people come to celebrate. The interview takes place in The Library.
