Handwritten on back: "Ward Miller on Ocean Blvd with old cars" Historical note: In about 1919 Ward Beecher Miller (1861-1937) and his family came to Florida and purchased 43 acres on the barrier island near Boynton (now Boynton Beach); he named it Shore Acres. Miller built a large house, named Briny Breezes, and started a 500-head dairy farm. To take advantage of the real estate boom, in 1925 he and Alfred H. Wagg turned Shore Acres into Briny Breezes the housing development, and sold out the lots for close to $2 million. Unfortunately, the land boom busted in 1928, and all the purchased land came back to him. During the 1930s, Miller allowed "tin can tourists" to park their travel trailers on his land for three dollars per week.
