500        |a James Melton stands on the running board of an old car next to a woman in front of Lyman's Sport Fishing Dock building. Each holds a license plate. Historical note: James Melton (1904-1961), a noted tenor, opened the James Melton Autorama on U.S. 1 in Hypoluxo in May 1953. Exhibits featured antique cars, fire engines, and dolls; a Teak House; and the Cyclorama, a 6,200 sq. ft. mural by Bernard Thomas illustrating American history exhibited with an accompanying taped narration. While the museum was apparently open through the first part of 1961, the land was sold to Winrock Farms in 1959 and the car collection purchased by Winthrop Rockefeller in 1960, which were then offered to the Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida.
